Nobelius Heritage Park

Nobelius Heritage Park is located as a remnant of the once great Gembrook Nurseries. The Nobelius Heritage Park includes plantings of many of the trees that were propagated and stocked by the nursery, including significant trees that are listed on the Victorian Heritage Database. Commemorative plantings and nursery structures also enhance the Park making it one of the Dandenongs’ hidden gems. Brochure

Emerald Heritage Walk

The Emerald Heritage Walk is a self guided walk around Emerald to learn more about Emeralds’ rich history. The walk takes around an hour to complete and provides history on 11 remaining buildings around Emerald. Emerald Museum

The Emerald Museum is situated in the Nobelius Heritage Park in Emerald. The Museum tells the story of Emeralds’ history, the oldest town in the Dandenong Ranges. The Nobelius Heritage Park is of national significance and a lovely spot to enjoy a picnic. You can enjoy a self guided walk around Emerald to learn more about Emeralds’ rich history. Emerald Heritage Walk Map


The 30 minute compelling audio trail walk starts at the corner of Kilvington Dve and Belgrave-Gembrook Rd, Emerald, in front of the National Bank. The walk tells the story of 32 diggers from Emerald who lost their lives during WW1. Brochures can be picked up from the Emerald Newsagency and from the Visitor Centre on Emerald Station. website

Emerald Model Railway Museum

Emerald Lake Model Railway & Miniature World is the largest model railway in the Southern Hemisphere. Located in beautiful Emerald Lake Park and adjacent to Puffing Billy Emerald Lakeside Station, the model railway delights children and adults of all images. There are viewing platforms inside the model railway so you can get up close to all the action. Eastern Dandenong Ranges Rail Trail

The Eastern Dandenong Ranges Rail Trail is a 12.5km trail starting from Emerald or Gembrook. The trail runs alongside the Puffing Billy track in lots of places. The walk is truly unique in its outlook. You'll experience vast open valley views, heritage gardens, tall eucalypt and mountain as forests, lush tree fern gullies and patchwork farmlands as well as abundant birdlife and animals. There are two Maps, Map & Map 2 that will direct you on your journey. Both maps include accommodation, cafes, restaurants, wineries, shopping & retail, local attractions & activities, clubs and some local business listings.  Map 1 covers Menzies Creek, Emerald, Cockatoo, Avonsleigh, Macclesfield & Upper Beaconsfield. World renowned Puffing Billy is a favourite with all the family. You’ll cross trestle bridges, take in magical forests and gullies, farms and majestic views. Puffing Billy departs from Emerald Lakeside in Emerald as well as Belgrave and Gembrook.
